Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons

In 1978 Dr. Stephen Grace began his plastic surgery private practice. Dr. Grace received his B.A. in Biology from University of Oregon in 1966 and his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in 1970. From 1970 to 1971 he participated in a Straight Surgical internship at Los Angeles County Harbor General Hospital. He continued there with a residency from 1971 to 1975 in General Surgery. His residency in Plastic Surgery at UCLA School of Medicine ran from 1975 to 1978. In 1976 completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship

He currently holds two staff appointments, with Washoe Medical Center and St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, that began at the same time as his private practice. Dr. Grace also presently holds an appointment as the Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine.

Dr. Grace has held many administrative positions in the past including President of the Reno Surgical Society in 1996, Chief of the General Surgery Department , St. Mary's Regional Medical Center from 1982 to 1983. He has been on the Ethics Committee and the Executive Committee of the Washoe County Medical Society.

Dr. Grace holds several Board Certifications and Licenses and is a member of many professional organizations. He received Board Certification from the American Board of Surgery in 1977 and from the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1980. He holds licenses with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, California Board of Medical Examiners, State of Oregon Board of Examiners and the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners. His memberships in professional organizations include the Nevada State Medical Society, the Washoe County Medical Society, UCLA Plastic Surgery Society, Reno Surgical Society, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Lipoplasty Society of North America and American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Grace has authored articles which have appeared in publications such as Archives of Internal Medicine, Surgical Forum, Clinical Research, British Journal of Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In 1984, he published in a college textbook a chapter titled "Coping with Communicative Handicaps: Resources for the Practicing Clinician."

Since 1974 Dr. Grace has been called upon to give national and regional presentations. He presented at the 66th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the 60th Annual Meeting of the American College of Surgeons Surgical Forum, the 8th Annual Meeting of the Associations for Academic Surgery and for the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons in 1977. He traveled to Xtapa, Mexico in 1984 to deliver a talk on Unusual Animal Bite Injuries at the What's New in Plastic Surgery Annual Symposium and in 1991 presented at the California Medical Association's Annual Meeting held in Reno, Nevada.
